Parabola is hosting a poetry zine event for the launch of Polaris Issue 3, where poetry meets sculpture in a powerful exploration of guerrilla gardening, resilience & the myth of the amaryllis flower. Event: Planting Amaryllis – Poetry Event Date: Saturday, 8th March 2025 Time: 13:00 – 14:00 Experience live readings from commissioned poets as they bring words to life in response to the sculpture, Amarylla Guerrilla by Louise Plant. Take a look at the talented Lauren Smith! Her video, Love Potion, perfectly showcases how the park can be more than just a place to work—it’s a space to play, dance, and live. The accompanying music is in Japanese, and the term Odottemita (踊ってみた) translates to "tried to dance." A recent trend, widely popular in Japan and beyond, sees dancers creating original choreographies to various songs. Once uploaded, others learn and share their own interpretations under the 踊ってみた category. Love Potion is Lauren’s unique take on this movement. Thank you for sharing with us, Lauren!

Pickleball Courts come to Game4Padel at Edinburgh Park

Edinburgh Park Adds First 'Purpose Built' Pickleball Courts in Scotland Game4Padel, the UK’s only national padel operator, has added four pickleball courts to its padel site at Edinburgh Park. Pickleball is a new racket sport, played with a small racket and combining elements of tennis, badminton and table tennis. It has gained most popularity in the US where it is estimated over 36 million people play. The new pickleball courts opened at the beginning of October, and sit alongside the two covered padel courts that Game4Padel operate on behalf of Parabola, the business park developer. Game4Padel have been operating the padel courts at Edinburgh Park since 2022, as well as other padel facilities nearby at the Thistle Padel Club and Barnton Park Lawn Tennis Club and have developed a thriving padel community in Edinburgh. A huge congratulations to Claire! Claire is this year's winner of the Edinburgh Park Photo Competition, with her entry 'Red Sky At Night'. This shot was captured on a stroll through the park's public walkways at dusk. The image stood out as a wonderful example of how the park can be enjoyed by humans and animals as a place for leisure activities beyond work. A new running club for Edinburgh Park.

On the 27th September a new run club is starting at Edinburgh Park. The weekly run group session gives anyone, and everyone, of all abilities, the opportunity to take part in a social run around the Edinburgh Park area. You will have the option of a coffee afterwards at Patina bakery and all in time to get showered and ready for your day in the office. Mark Baxter, a UK Athletics Qualified Running Coach, is running the initiative. The aim is to bring more focus to the sport of running and encourage health & wellbeing, which can reduce stress and other factors in our everyday lives. Edinburgh Park Photo Contest Now Live!

Over the last few years, Edinburgh Park's management team has hosted a photography competition to shine a light on those talented members of the public who take beautiful pictures of life & nature in the park. This year our competition is open from the 15th of August to the 30th of September 2024. All interpretations of the park are welcome but if you need inspiration perhaps focus on capturing 'candid moments' on Edinburgh Park or 'reflections'. To submit please fill in the information on the form which you can access via the QR code on the poster and send your photo entry to Lottie Kirby at placemaking@lsh.co.uk. Please note that if applications are made after 11:59pm on 30th September they will not be valid entries. If the file is too large to send via email please send to placemaking@lsh.co.uk via 'we transfer'. Please ensure the submitted files are in a format that allows as high resolution as possible. Submissions will close at 11:59pm on Friday 30th September. We will announce the winner on Monday 16th October. The winner will be notified via email and sent our £200 voucher from Camera Tiks, a local camera (equipment) shop. We wish you the best of luck with your entry and thank you for participating!

In May, Edinburgh Park hosted a epic Spring market. Despite the drizzly rain, Occupiers and Visitors to the park enjoyed stalls that showcased local food, craftsmanship and more. The hog roast was particularly popular! It is great to see New Park Square at Edinburgh Park as the venue for this event and look forward to having more public events available for Occupiers and the local community soon. Watch this space! An overhaul to the signage and wayfinding at Edinburgh Park has been underway and is finally in place. You will notice new signposting, Occupier directories, bus stops and amenity signage to help you navigate your way around the park. Edinburgh Park worked closely with designer's Four-by-Two to create impactful signage that reflects our brand. These weatherproof signs will become a permanent feature of Edinburgh Park's landscape.

Biodiversity boost for Edinburgh Park

Following a park wide Biodiversity Net Gain Assessment, the management team have initiated a plan to encourage more wildlife to the park. Areas that were previously grassland, have now been planted with wildflower meadows seeds that should come into bloom next year. Coupled with a more defined path network we will continue to monitor the progress of the project.
